Trip #8
Halibut, Salmon

Halibut fishing is what Homer is famous for and Outdoor North America can arrange your Alaska fishing vacation with an outstanding charter that has been fishing halibut out of Homer since 1979. They operate full-day trips, multiple-day long-range trips, and half day trips. They begin fishing for halibut in late April and fish until mid September.

Halibut fishing in Homer is probably the most consistent fishery in Alaska and they have one of the best success rates around. Their boats limit out the majority of the time. While 100+ pound fish are fairly common, the average sport caught halibut is 25-35 pounds.

The Homer area offers some of the finest salt-water salmon fishing around. They have year round King Salmon fishing and great Silver Salmon fishing in August. They troll for salmon most of the year, and around the first of May they start catching the big spawning kings including the trophy Kenai River fish. In Homer, all of the King Salmon runs in Cook Inlet come right by their doorstep.

Trip #9
King Salmon

This is a remote fishing camp by definition. You will sleep and eat in tents. You won't need a coat and tie to wear to dinner, or have to worry about tracking mud on the carpet. No one will be offended by your cigar smoke or drink spilled laughing around the campfire. You won't find a copy of the latest financial pages or see the nightly news broadcast. You will catch fish till your arms are sore and your back aches and take home a box of Kanektok treasure for your efforts. You'll spend quality time with quality people like yourself and you won't believe what a special river you are fishing. You will leave camp a little heavier than when you arrived and if you're like the majority of the anglers that visit this camp...you will return.

This is a big game fish adventure and once bitten by it's bug, is a hard habit to cure. The adrenaline rush of the fight and the conquering confidence of a battle won are feelings second only to the humiliating frustration of a war lost. Atlantic salmon anglers leave bewildered by the awesome power of these fly gobbling giants. Steelhead bums wonder how they can get their VW busses close to here. No one can wait to do it again, and most make sure they do.

WARNING...King salmon fishing is not for the traditionalist fly angler with a clicker drag and a cane rod or for the egocentric, know it all, been there done that crowd. These fish will kick your butt and leave you a quivering, second guessing bag of goo, more times than not. Kings will alter the standard you will judge all other fish by... and it's the best fresh water game there is baby!
